What is and Who Can Teach EM 385-1-1?

What is USACE EM 385-1-1?

Contractors, military, and government employees of the U.S Army Corps of Engineers are required to comply with safety, health, and training requirements in the EM 385-1-1 manual.  The EM 385-1-1 safety and health requirements are often more comprehensive than the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety requirements.

In addition, compliance with the EM 385-1-1 manual requires extensive training covering the specific safety standards for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers projects.  The training programs are more thorough, and employers are required to conduct more regular safety training meetings.  EM 385-1-1 training programs help contractors, supervisors, and government employees comply with the safety and health requirements.

Who Can Teach EM 385-1-1?

The EM 385-1-1 training is required to be completed before any work is started. While there is no official approval process for EM 385-1-1 training programs, contractors and employees must complete the training.  Interpreting the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers EM 385-1-1 manual can be a challenge because the important safety information is written in dense, technical language.  Safety Provisions has created an EM 385-1-1 training course that covers the most relevant and widely applicable topics. The course has been clearly rewritten with pictures and graphics without losing any of the important safety standards.
